Inactive Text and key info blanked out - virus?

Hi guys,

I've got a bit of a strange one -

My laptop ran checkdisc as it was turning on, since then key text on task manager, several anti-virus programs and some websites has been blanked out. It's not even just hidden, the text is completely gone.

I've run AVG, cleaner and spybot but all has come back clean. I ran all of the in safe mode too - still clean and the issue is also evident in safe mode.

I'm currently running a superantispyware scan but that's got no results so far either.

Has anyone got any idea what's happened and how I can fix it?

Update: finished running superantispyware in safe mode : nothing found

It's very unclear to me what exactly you mean by that.
