There's nothing wrong with hard drives when it comes to more economical storage option. I keep all my backups, data, DOS games and their ISos, and ISOs for emulations in my hard drives which are much much larger than my 4TB SSDs. Of course, there's no reason you should install an OS in a hdd anymore.Hard drives? Ugh!
I'd happily take a SSD NAS, but the only company to make a 2.5" NAS is synology, who refuses to embrace multi gig, and there is 0 reason to go SSD if I am limited to a gigabit.Sadly the SSD alternative is so expensive so yeah HDD is the way to go for NAS at home but I can wait for a bit longer before I have to replace ALL of my NAS drives. (They are 8 TB each and plenty of them). Next year perhaps. We will see.
Let me know how the cost works out for you for getting 30TB of storage in SSDs only, which is what I have in my NAS.Hard drives? Ugh!
Lexar NM790 4TB. Been an awesome and cheap drive.

The drive only has 1015 hours Powered ON and 6.2TB Total Host Writes, so it isn't very old. That said, no issues so far as a games only SSD.What about reliability?
