I'm confused, do I have to uninstall the Service Pack 1 or can I just overwrite it?
  3. Broni Malware Annihilator Posts: 39,236   +175

First you need to create Windows 7 DVD as described in my link.
Then in order to run repair installation you'll have to uninstall SP1 because you have to have same Windows version on DVD and on your computer.
Once again you won't be able to do it in 30 minutes or so....go to bed and start fresh tomorrow.
Start with reading my replies and my links.

Hey I'm back, overslept 4 hours but everything has quietend down at my work :p I have time, but actually I'm facing an issue with uninstalling the Service Pack 1. First of all, I guess I have to be in Safe mode, as always. When I go to 'Installed Updates' in 'Programs and Features', when I find the file 'Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB976932)' and double-click on it or select it and press uninstall, a pop up comes up, 'Are you sure you want to uninstall this update?' I press yes and nothing happens.. I repeat the process, nothing happens.. So I tried doing that through 'Command Prompt', and this time, this comes up: [IMG]But nothing happens too when I click 'OK'

    1. Click the Start button [IMG], and then, in the search box, type Command Prompt.
    2. In the list of results, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. Type the following: wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:976932
    4. Press the Enter key.

Same picture comes up like in #46 post.

Are you sure you put "space" after "wusa.exe" and after "/uninstall"?
  10. xialoin Newcomer, in training Posts: 34

Oh :p I guess I should try that :p I wasted the whole day and all you need to do is put 'space' between words :D Thanks I'll try that!

Yep works, now I need to download the right ISO, burn it and install it right? No files will be lost and the system will be fixed? Or just some of what we have deleted accidentaly in the beginning? I will still have the same issues?

Yes you need to create DVD and run repair installation following my link.
Do NOT rush anything. Read everything very carefully.
    Your data should be safe.

I ''uninstalled'' the Service Pack 1 through safe mode through 'Command Prompt' and it said that it went successful and it told me I should restart my laptop, I did, when I came back on again, I went to 'Programs and Features' and to 'Installed Updates' just to make sure everything went fine but guess what, 'Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB976932)' is still there, why is that?
  14. Broni Malware Annihilator Posts: 39,236   +175

Create Windows DVD and see if you can run repair installation.

I have a good download but 'peers?' have really bad upload, just about 180 kbs, 2 more hours with this speed :/ Should I try uninstalling the Servic Pack 1 again? Or when I insert the DVD it will tell me if it's still installed? 2 more hours come on! Are you Polish by any chance? That flag in your profile on a different site ^^

DVD will tell you if SP 1 is in the way.
    Yes I'm Polish :)

I'll be gone for a few hours anyway so take your time.

Hey, I have found a way to restore my windows to like 10 days back. Is it ok if I ask you to check if my files are ok? I'm not sure it they were back then, maybe it started off a small virus and that's how this whole thing happened. Just tell me what programs to use to share my logs. Would be greatful!
  19. Broni Malware Annihilator Posts: 39,236   +175

    Ale niezpodzianka :)
    Mieszkasz w Polsce?

You can try that 10 days old restore point.

Wlasciwie to mieszkam w UK :p Moze lepiej na PW :D

I restored to like a month ago and everything works great! I think so anyway.. So all we did was just a waste of time :p But at least I learnt some new tricks, like going to notepad through Safe mode and finding missing files :p Thanks, I guess the problem is fixed for now!
