I apologize in advance for my ignorance, any help is appreciated. I've decided that I'll build my next machine but I'm trying to extend the life of my current one a bit. I have a 1700 mhz Dell 8200 with 256 ram, 100mhz bus and a GeForce3. I use the machine mainly for gaming and would like to upgrade without spending a fortune if possible.

First question: If I upgrade my ram (currently 2 - 128 chips), do I have to buy two more 128's or can I just buy one 256?

Second question: Where can I go to find out what's the maximum cpu I can install on my motherboard?

Third question: If I can't upgrade the cpu for the motherboard, where can I go to find out what's the best motherboard I can get that will fit my case and power supply.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Rob
