Toshiba Satellite delayed startup (Vista)

Hi I recently experienced longer than normal boot times on my laptop. It sticks on the welcome screen for 15-20 minutes and then again for almost as long when I enter my password to logon. The only thing I can think that I changed was un-installing AVG and installing AVAST. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Computer know how = moderate
