Transferring RAM

I have 2 computers, both Dell. One computer has 2 GB of RAM, and the other computer has 1 GB (it's a Dell Dimension 4700, so I think it has enough slots for 1 more GB of RAM.

So can I remove 1 GB RAM from the 2GB computer and put it in the other computer without any problems?

If they are the same speed, and the Mobo can take the size chip...it should work fine.

You'll need to check on the Dell web site to find what configurations the computer will take.

My biggest concern is if the computer I took the RAM out of will recognize that it has less RAM.

Don't worry about that. The comp will know before it even begins to load Windows that it has less RAM. That is checked at POST (Power On Self Test).
