Unable to burn CD with Nero 9 and WMP

I have burned countless of CDs and DVDs off in the past, however this time I have ruined almost... six (and counting) CDs while trying to figure out what is going wrong.

I have always used Nero 9 on this computer to burn things, however once I ruined a few CDs i turned to WMP to see if the problem also persisted there.

So.. I really didn't know if I should have posted this in hardware or software, but I check to see if the driver was updated and windows stated that there was no better driver for it than what is on it right now.

At first i recognized that Nero 9 was no longer recognizing the burner, the only option to burn was an image recorder. I went into the Nero Burn Right and set it at everyone, after which the burner option re-appeared. I tried to burn a CD again, though received the same error.

After checking the driver and trying a few times, I have run out of ideas. I have tried this using three brands of CDs (I first thought it might have been a faulty batch I was using).

I hope someone can give me some idea as to what is going on, as it had always worked before.. and now it's just pretty useless!
