Thax for replying to my forum and i do apologize for asking many questions, but I'm very busy and dont have time always to read the forums. I opened my computer and I just learned where to put my stuff thanx to u guys and emachines, and I have 2 PCI slots open and an upgrade slot for RAM. Thanx very much. I opened my computer, and I couldn't tell the brand of HD, but I have a suscpision that might have to do with that: The cable connecting from the HD to mobo read "MASTER" is this a type of harddrive? Please hurry with replying, I'm getting my upgrade in like a week or so.

    Thanx for reply

P.S. I learned that there are 2 types of RAM: DIMM and SO-DIMM. Which one will work in my system? My upgrade wont work without reply soon!

    Thanx

So-dimm's are for laptops, dimms are typically for pc desktops, so you want a dimm stick of ram.

Master isn't a brand, it's the drive setting. Drives can be master or slave depending on how many drives you have and the position of the drives on the cable.

Did any of the tools I linked to help you test the drive or get a drive mfg. id?

Exactly what do you have then as if the XP installation is fixed on the HD (recovery partition) you're going to find you have no OS when you replace the old HD? If this is the case you'll need to purchase a copy of XP which isn't such a bad thing as you can (with obvious limitations) move this around independant of the machine. There'll be no point adding the new drive as a secondary as if there are problems with your primary HD (the one with Windows on) they won't go away. Of couse it might not be your HD but it does seem likely, try running a scandisk and see what (if any) errors it finds.

When Windows lags, I scan with scandisk, and it always finds no errors. I dont understand...

It should work, and run the games ok. They don't seem to be extremely demanding games.

    OK Thanks

sorry for being a bit paranoid, but I thank you for your help! I dont think i will need much more help, but I thank you anyway. I'm also getting an external sound card(usb plug n play), so what its not really good, but you know, its better than my old sound card! ;) (even has mic support!)

Thanks for everyone who helped me so greatly!

    vnf4ultra, paulla, spike!

If you haven't done so already replace the powersupply. The E-machines T-2xxx series is notorious for bad power supplies that eventually short out and fry the motherboard, especially when you tax them with upgrades.

The card im ordering requires 250w PSU and i got 300w psu. I should be fine. plus i bought my computer from my uncle, and he upgraded the psu. (from 250w to 300w) as vnf4ultra said, it sho0uld ru0n fine, and emachines didnt say anyting about needing a new psu and they are very trustworthy to me. (seriously, they are) :) :haha: :)
