Verizon confirms iPhone 5 ships GSM unlocked despite contract

    I'm glad I got mine on Verizon, this is great surprise.

    Reportedly this is because of an agreement between Verizon and the FCC. So hopefully locked phones will become a thing of the past.

    Perry Como had a song in the 50-60's "Dream along with me; I'm on my way to the stars".

    Europe has 'world class' service where phones connect / use the closest service available, but the FCC has
    allowed domestic (ie: U.S.A.) providers to be branded and hold their customers hostage.

    I'll be 199 yrs old before we have unbranded, unfettered access.
