I just upgraded my laptop to Vista. Even though I'm the administrator I'm prevented from doing anything. I need to update drivers, etc. and when I'm asked for permission and click "allow," Consent UI stops me from executing. I receive an error c0000005. Any program on cd/rom won't launch because of this, including trying to run Vista again to repair. Also, I get error messages that "extended attributes are inconsistent."

What are the laptops specs? What version of Vista are you running? What was the original OS installed and how much memory is installed?

My laptop runs an Intel CPU 1.66ghz. I have upgraded the hdd and memory--320GB SATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive 16MB and a 1GB memory. The unit had XP and I put the Vista Home Premium upgrade on it.
