I've gone through this twice with you. Checking the processes in the HJT log just stops that entry. If you do not follow through with the uninstalls, delete program folders, disable Service and Disable addons, the processes will still be listed on the system. When I told you not to worry about the 'file missing' entries, that was only with respect to the entry in HJT. You still have to follow through with the above.

    Thank you,

Yea I know, I’ve went through every step you have told me throughout this process before (and posted what happened after) and I will go through it again, right now, to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I will post in my next message, the results, errors, etc. of this process to let you know what happens.

    RESULT

    1. Booted into Safe mode with networking.
    2. Went to Add/Remove Programs area - deleted what was found in the Add/Remove Programs area….. >>> none of the folders were found hidden in the programs folder.
    3. f3PSSavr.scr was not there... so, I re-hid the folders and hid protected system files

    4. Re-booted Safe mode (without networking)
    5. Deleted the next set of programs.
** I got 2 errors and could not delete the following:
    1. My Web Search Kazulah said- “Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\3.bin\mwsbar.dll The Specified module could not be found.”
    2. Ask Toolbar said – “The windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.”

    So… I went on…

    6. Disabled all plugins you listed.
    7. Disabled MyWebSearchService, Service.
    8. Ran CMD and successfully deleted “sc delete MyWebSearchService”
    9. Tried to delete My Web Search Kazulah and Ask Toolbar again but, got the same errors.....ugh
    10. Rebooted into reg. mode did not work.
    11. Rebooted into Safe mode with networking

Now, Here is my HiJackThis scan result -

Okay, I'll try one more thing and if it doesn't work, I will recommend that you reformat/reinstall. You should spend as little time as possible running in Safe Mode with Networking because the security program don't load in that mode.

For some reason We've gone this far and I don't see my asking you to run Combofix> so>>

Use a flash drive to download the program. Then install and run on the problem computer: You can ignore the Recovery Console query and just go ahead with the scan. I out the RC entries in purle text so you would recognize them. Then I'll try to set up script to remove the entries.
Download Combofix from HERE or HERE and save to the desktop
    • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*] ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. It is recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode if needed.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
[*]Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
[*]Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

    • .Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware
    • .If Combofix asks you to update the program, allow
    • .Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • .Close any open browsers.
    • .Double click combofix.exe[IMG] & follow the prompts to run.
    • When the scan completes , a report will be generated-it will open a text window. Please paste the C:\ComboFix.txt in next reply..
    Re-enable your Antivirus software.
    Notes:
    1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
    2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
    3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell your helper.
    4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Oh geez, Hope I can avoid a system reformat/reinstall.
Here are some steps I did so far....

1.) Downloaded and ran ComboFix - The Warning said: it detected Norton Antivirus and spywear to be active and running. This can make the scan unpredictable or even damage your system.
2.) So, closed combofix.... I un-installed Norton and deleted all it's 156 registry keys using Revo uninstaller. I also used the Norton total uninstall app, just to make sure its gone.
    3.) Rebooted into safe mode.
4.) Started Combo fix again and got the same warning message as in my step number 1.
5.) I check to see if Norton registry keys came back and they did, ugh! :-/

I didn't go through with the scan because, I didn't want to risk messing up my pc any further.

    What Should I do???
    Run ComboFix anyway?
    Am I still infected?

If I'm still infected, I heard from another forum, this could be done... I don't know much about this; I'm just trying to explore all options before having to do a system reformat/reinstall.:

Overwrite the boot record with a fresh boot record and rewrite the master boot record with a new fresh MBR (use EasyBCD). The system will then boot normally. You will then find a portion of the infection contained within a randomly named driver in C:\windows\system32\drivers.... some other changes or files may be involved.

You need to stop what you're doing. You need to reformat/reinstall. I cannot determine if this is a software or a hardware problem- or both. If it's software, the reformat.reinstall will handle it.

You have gotten to the point where continuing will do more harm that good.

You will find excellent reformat/reinstall instructions here:
    http://www.tech-101.com/tutorials/356-tutorial-windows-install-repair-xp-vista.html

    You can do it. [IMG]
