Vista - Never Booted, 'Please Wait' screen

Hello to you all and thanks so much, in advance, if any of you can shine any light on this one.... (will keep it compact so excuse English):

Brand new machine, with Vista. First-time power up.

Turned machine on, got to a turquoise screen saying pleas wait. This screen had no progress meter/bar so hard to tell if any activity.

Left machine for apporx 45 minutes, came back to it, exactly the same, 'please wait'. Thought 'this is not right', no options on screen so powered PC off at the switch.

Power on - this time machine displayed 'Windows has encountered an error during installation' There is an OK button, if clicked it just restarts and gets back to this message.

Obviously, the machine cant boot because Windows is corrupt (not fully installed). I take it I was wrong to turn it off on that original screen, but does it usually take 45 mins on first boot?

The big question - how can this be fixed?!

Note - I do not have any CDs for Vista, it was supposed to be on and ready.

Thanks to all of you for reading! I hope one of you kind souls can help me out.
Regards,
Phil

You'll need a Vista disk to do a repair or re-install. It sounds like the original installation was never completed.
