After reading all of this...
I'm guilty, I bought the first netbook (A PackardBell EasyNote S18p) as soon as I layed my eyes upon it, I think it was the first one to reach Chile and long before the EEEcks (I'm sorry... I can't bear them still) came. It was small (7" screen), light, beautiful, with a touchscreen (That you could twist and it became a sort of tablet), and the rest was just history. The first one came with an AMD Geode proccesor and a whole 80gb of hard disk drive, I loved it and took it to class and everywhere I could need the use of a computer.
Now I see this, much (Much much much...) cheapier than what I payed for the S18p but I can't seem to embrace it, lacks WAY too many things, closed to the apple enviroment (Maybe if it had been a windows bearing computer distributor could have been a little more acceptable, as linux makes PC MUCH more customizable than Mac will ever allow), but still seems too expensive for what it really is.
What it is? A piece of screen that can take one app at a time (I mean... hellooooo multiprogram OS have been for what?), no way to connect it to a tv, cellphone or whatsoever, no flash (Apple you were for real on this one?) which limits your websurfing (The whole idea of the hellpad) to like 25% of the whole net (Which is actually comprised of at least 70% flash according to an article read here in techspot).
Mmm... I think if people buy it, is because it is "hype", and "cool" to have a piece of technology that goes with your clothes.
To whomever said "it is only going to get better", not in the near future at least. Maybe it will improve a little with the PC factor that Asus, HP, and the rest of the companies are manufacturing bringing more compatibility and customizations.
I'll just say no to apple thank you very much.
