Weekend Open Forum: Your last game purchase

Last game I purchased was SIMS3 for the wife, son and myself. We enjoyed playing it individually! Last FPS I bought was FarCry2. Even with my aging 7900GS, it still played well (DX9, 14x9 19" LCD)

The last game I bought was Dawn of War II. I can't say that it was the best purchase I have made. The graphics are nice and the gameplay is quite different and entertaining, but I still prefer the old-school RTS style of games such as Dawn of War Soulstorm.

My last game was Batman: Arkham Asylum. I'm not a fan of batman but I enjoyed the game, very well mix of stealth and action. I wouldn't even think that it through me in but I played it from day to night!

The only thing bothered me was some game issues in PC platform. Sometimes grapple won't work or the game won't load properly. In last parts of game the problems gets so serious that you can't even finish the game!
It's a pity. I searched and find no fixes the only solution is to get someone other save game and complete the game, very disappointing:(

Far Cry 2 for the PS3. Good game with a nive large playing field. It was on special for $49 New Zealand dollars so compared to the usual $120, it was a bargain that I had to have. The price for PS3 games is way too expensive. If they want to sell more, drop the price to $50 and more people will buy them - simple really.

My last game purchase was Wrath of the Lich King. Considering that I play WoW almost everyday for several hours per day, it was a great purchase. The new content was so much better than Burning Crusade. Maybe that's because I was so sick of the old content and this was just something new but I really liked what was done in Wrath.

My last game purchase was on Friday and it was Left 4 Dead 2 as well. The problem is that all the games I am looking forward to are at the very least a year off. Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Kane & Lynch 2, and others are all slated for 2010 releases I think. Either way, I hope Left 4 Dead 2 holds me over until then. I think 2009 is going to be a very slow year for games.

Borderlands, level 6 hunter so far.
I think the game is definately worth buying if you liked Fallout 3, but wished there was a bit more straightfoward action and less VATS.

Also Preordered Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack In Time, because I have always been a big fan of the series (played every single one, except the handheld ones). And if I get some money, I will most likely buy God of War Collection (1 and 2 remake), because I never had a chance to play through the ps2 ones.

Actually, I just realised the last game I bought was actually Pro Evo 2010! It's awesome, so much better than the last game. It still has its bugs, but overall it is a far superior game. The redesigned master league is a godsend!

Latest game for me was L4D.. though I have to agree that L4D2 is a very poorly timed sequel since Valve dropped the ball on promised support and expansion of L4D. Otherwise though it's as usual from them a kickass game. :)

I bought Crysis almost a year ago. Cause I don't buy games very often. I could play it on low settings but I updated my rig recently and now I can play it on Maximum graphics.

Diablo II - Lord of Destruction... LOL

Let's just say I have to *really* like a game before I buy it.

The last game I bought personally must have been the Burning Crusade, coming up on three years ago.

However, my room mate just got Borderlands for the PS3 and I've been playing it a bit. From what I can see, its story is weak (and I mean WEAK...they've resorted to unexplained visual hallucinations to develop plot, and an annoying talking robot for turorial information - think Guilty Spark meets Wall-E). Nothing new has been brought to the table gameplay wise - it's a typical analog thumbstick shooter. It has RPG elements (I'm still hesistant to lable something an RPG just because it's based on a level system, so I'm not going to call it an RPG), ie classes, level ups, and randomly spawned guns with random stats. It also has skill points.

The skill points do NOT scale well with the enemies you're fighting. Watching my room mate play through the game: by the second playthrough, mobs are so tough that his gun is doing little to deter them; however, he has a ridiculously over powered bird, on a 12 second cooldown, that will one shot up to 9 enemies.

I would not pay $60 for a game that brings nothing new to the table and has irritating issues.

Last game I bought is "STALKER:Shadow of Chernobyl", but I haven't got the chance to play it yet so I can't say if it was worth it or not.
On the other side, before this, I got "The secret of Monkey Island: Special edition" from Steam and I can say that this little remake totally worth it, every cent. I recomend it to all adventure fans ... and to old timers like me :p

Does it count digital purchases? If so, my latest buys were Giants Citizen Kabuto and Sacrifice from gog.com, great site. Retail games I bought recently were Mirror's Edge and Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising. Mirror's Edge I liked, really fun, OpFlashpoint was sort of a letdown for not having DS.

The last game i bought was Unreal Tournament 3 as a cheap game to play while i wait for my Pre-ordered copy of Modern warfare 2!
