This is a pretty timely post for me. Just a few days ago, our family pet, a German Shepherd / Terrier mix was put to sleep. She lived to be 16 (very old for a dog) and saw me through most of my childhood and adolescent years. Losing her is on par with losing a family member -- she participated in everything we did.

I no longer live at the house, but my dad went out and bought her a cheeseburger from Carl's Jr for her last meal, along with a bowl of chocolate chip ice cream. She was always on a strict diet so this was pretty special for her. Photos were taken of her enjoying the meal, then she was put down a few minutes after.

As for me, I go crazy for really good sushi. I can't think of anything I'd rather have for my last meal.

Might pay to steer clear of the "white chocolate cookies" if that's the case.

  7. I would eat a cheese and ham sandwich. Simple I know, but I've had them all my life. It would be a perfect last meal.

Who knows, maybe you'll be the last man on earth. After all, alcohol does act as a preservative.

OK, I get the "cowboy steak, mushrooms, and Coca-Cola. (In fact they'd were my choices also). But, we'd sincerely appreciate it f you'd give us a clue on the language....

    I'm thinking German, but....?

My first guess was more Scandinavian.. but if we trust the power of Google translate, it says: Afrikaans
Now, if the original poster (or a native speaker) could tell us....

Lean pork fillets marinated in Honey and Soy, On a bed of steamed oriental greens.

What can I say, it's the advantage of having a wife.

A Puerto Rican plate of rice and beans with fried chicken. A side order of fried plantains and a few ice cold Coronas.

Ah, logic meets chaos theory.....or classic tech forum non sequitur !?
I'm kind of wondering* why you would need a wife to have a (presumeably) cooked pork and steamed veg meal ? Would she need to cook it?...need to feed it to you in itty-bitty bites?...an exotic ocker custom that forbids anyone other than female spouses from marinating pork?

    *Done wondering. As you were.

I have to say I'm impressed your ability to ferret that out.

Just from my memory, "Afrikaans" is sort of a hybrid tongue, mostly based in Dutch. Hence the similarity to German in many words.

I'm sort of embarrassed to say this, but over the years I've seen no mention of courses in Dutch, and I had to check to make sure they had their own language. I've never heard anybody extol the virtues of, "Dutch as a second language".... (This despite the fact that I've been told I am Dutch).

Well, steak, mushrooms, and Coca-Cola seem to have universal appeal, and it was most of my choice also.

DBZ posted this greasy a** sandwich that I'd have in an erratic heartbeat, in place of the salad though.

    @DBZ
Continuing on that thought, I am still struggling to find 'disadvantages' of not having a wife.
  18. "n leker vetterig skaap rib en groot cowboy steak en mushrooms met n dik mengels slaai en rond dit af met n glaas coke."

A nice fatty sheep rib and big cowboy steak and mushrooms with a thick mix of salad and round it off with a glass of coke.
