What'd you buy yourself today?

I only just got the SIM transferred 24 hrs ago so I haven't used it much yet! But I've already 'hacked' it (yay for Android) and had a decent play with it to say - yep I'm gonna like it. :) I love the design and the bezels.

That is what I've recently bought. This is Hartridge IFT-70 injector stand. :)

Samyang 14mm F2.8 Canon fit Ultra wide angle lens, and a Canon EOS to Sony E-mount adapter.

Finally got rid of S5 (few days back) and although I thought about getting an iPhone briefly, I choose to get an Lumia 930 instead. Its doesn't have outlandish looks/or style for that matter (but neither did S5), so far, I feel I've made the right choice since it offers consistently good performance and stability, and only thing I miss is odd stutters/crashes/reboots from S5 (and earlier droids)!

I've been busy and haven't upgraded anything in a long time (or done much gaming for that matter...) but got a GTX 970 to replace my two 7970's :)

Nice! Hope you have a second rig to put those 7970s in as those are still excellent cards.

Job got this for me last week

Job also bought me another Oculus Rift DK2 so I can do some work/demos here without bringing my personal set to work anymore. Started the purchase for an http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-15/pd + Graphics Amplifier but Dell was having issues getting my tax exempt status worked out so they'll be calling me back to complete that order. Also purchasing http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/gearvr/gearvr_features.html once all these other purchases are complete. I'll be sure to give you guys some impressions and comparisons once I get them in hand. There's about to be a lot of fun work time going on here :)

I bought one of these:

But that was a week and a half ago. Have I lost my bragging rights?

Anyway, the frame rate is lousy. It won't download stuff, there's no place to install more memory, and forget about water cooling the damned thing......(wait for it).....5 Stars!

I also have to confess, I bought the guitar for the most selfish on reasons. That's so I didn't have two the same color:

If anybody was wondering, yes, I'm left handed.

Well some here might not think this is very "tech related", but I sure as heck do! Recently I decided to sell off my old car, without having a replacement at the time of the sell. So currently I'm between vehicles, and while I am, I decided to purchase off of Graig's List a nice little Veco electric scooter. It gets about 25 miles range per battery charge, nice headlights, turn signals, brake lights, multiple cargo areas, horn, passenger equipped, with a max speed of around 35-40 miles per hour. So this is going to be my "in between cars" little putt putt! What makes this story "techy" is the fact that I bought it "as is" and it had a messed up wiring system and the battery was on the blink. I re-wired the bike myself, thanks to my education in the world of computers, the wiring for this went fairly well. Got a ride to my local Honda motorcycle shop and bought a new battery and 12V trickle charger. I also had to re-wire the recharging port, that is just under the seat.

I like your parking spot! I used to park my crotch rocket in my bedroom when I lived on the first floor...LOL it takes special kind of people to do that LOL

Kind of interesting to take your ride completely apart, but it has to be done to get to the wires inside! Now this sucker runs great, while I was at it, I noticed a governor system on the throttle, I removed that and now am getting that 35-40 miles per hour, vs. the 25-30 miles per hour stock. I got this thing about 5-6 days ago, it's kind of nice driving by gas stations, looking at the prices and chuckling as I drive by it. This picture doesn't do the scooter justice, the picture makes the thing look smaller than it is, it is pretty big.

Zen = Gone Green! :)

I think I would replace my laptop's hard drive with a SSD...My admin at work did that to my work station, and it boots up WAAyy faster NOW!

Got the GearVR in as well as a second Oculus Rift DK2 (for work). Also got the pop filter on my mic there and the tripod that's holding up the webcam but is hidden by the GearVR case. I'll post the other new stuff I got on Monday :)

I gotta say, although I don't quite understand what everything is on those desk is, it looks like you're in the, "he who dies with the most toys wins", pursuit, for the long haul.(y)

With that said, full implementation of VR technology would be the ultimate realization of any type of flight simulation, aerial combat, shuttle mission, and on.

So, why don't I see a throttle block on the desk, or a set of rudder pedals on the floor?

There are pedals on the floor and a shifter on the right but I haven't gotten my h.o.t.a.s. yet

Here is the rest of the new stuff I got so far - I ended up getting the 15" instead of the 13" due to GPU options.

This is a pretty capable device. I got it with an internal GTX 970M / i7 / 16GB / SSD + Mechanical.

What is your job Papa that gets you these toys? :)
Let us know what you think of the capabilities of this setup.

I work in higher education in a department that happens to deal with emerging technologies :)

It's a great gig! I know I can make considerably more money with my skill-set just a few miles up the road, but here I have both the comfort of knowing they won't shut down tomorrow so I have a job for as long as I do good work and there is plenty of flexibility. If I need to come in an hour late because I have to drop something off for my kids at school it's not even worth mentioning to anyone. Jobs where you don't feel like you're a professional can be demoralizing for most people and here I definitely feel like I am.
