But without Guiness is there another way to order a Black & Tan?
  5. M_Jones Newcomer, in training Posts: 52

Only with stout methinks. But yeh I guess that its mainly Guiness even if it is tarmac in a glass.

Someone mention warm beer? i actually put a pint of john smiths bitter in the microvave for a customer once to take the chill off. Ive also heard they used to serve guiness hot in ye olde days. warming it up by adding a hot iron poker to the glass. And the bubbles travel downwards in a pint of guiness .... weird stuff

Theakestone's Old Peculiar mixed half and half with Theakestone's Best Bitter - known in parts of North Yorkshire as a pint of Standard.

my favourite beer would probably be our local ale Wold Gold, from the Wold Top brewery, if not that then maybe Duechars IPA, that stuff is ****ing awesome, smooth hoppy, drinkable and creamy with a hint of citrus. what more could anyone want?

PS. Lagers sucks unless they are origanal pilsner lagers.

    AND BUDWEISER IS DISGUSTING!

    Edited for language.

how have i never come across this thread before? :D haha

my #1 would be Fosters (ahh, the amber nectar), but for a change i'll occasionally have a carlsberg, budweiser or carling (sold for £2 a pint down the local ;))

i didn't know that fosters was called something else in australia though, how very interesting.

actually, i have sampled some ales before which were most pleasing

Now if you are talking lager, there is only the one and that is..............

    Herforder Pils.
Bet nobody has heard of that one! From Herford in Germany
Bottles come in yellow card board carryouts holding 10 x 33cls - as good as negotiable currency in this family and known as yellow handbags

Am I Allowed to Mention This.......?

Actually it's Pennsylvania Dutch Birch Beer.

I suppose that's silly and unmanly, so forget I said that.

    Cascade Draught all the way!

If we are going to get really exclusive, there is a very small brewery in Catthorpe near Rugby in England which makes a few barrells of something called Rat'ead which is the Roman name for the bridge over the village stream - cracking pint full of flavour but with sharp overtones and a malt aftertaste,

Fosters is considered worldwide to be the beer Australians drink.
But drink with us and you'll find that no one drinks it here!

Crown Lager is Exported as Fosters worldwide. I spun out when I was told that because my choice of beer usually is Crown Lager.

Anyone tried Singa Lager? I think it's Thai ... a 6-pack will know you down!
