Product Model: Inspiron 6000 Hi. I just did a clean install of WINDOWS XP Professional. I inserted the drivers CD and loaded the ones that were on there. When I go to DELL Support for driver download, I get SO many. Should I download them ALL? 1. How old is your laptop and ask yourself if the drivers presented on that webpage predate what you need. 2. Urgent and recommended drivers is what I would certainly consider. 3. More specifically, which drivers are for your particular model? For example, they list several urgent drivers for wireless but the issue is what wireless card version do you have installed?
The 'normal' minimum driver set for XP is: Operating system Motherboard chipset Video Audio Input Drivers (if needed - eg, keyboard/mouse) Modem (Desktop computers have a separate CD for the modem), &/or LAN network card/chipset Connect to internet: Service pack update(s) and all the security and other High Priority updates since the last service pack
