and i-pods dirty secret looks distinctly anti i-pod.....so what. its very hard to try and find somewhere that is unbiased about anything nowdays. i dont know which model it was i was looking at, but the screen was quite small and (imo) looked a bit manky. i have seen newer ones and they are better, but i still think they arent up to the standard of the i-pod.
I hate Macs, but I have to say I'm a fan of the Ipod. It looks cool and its the pioneer of the mp3 player. Needs to come down in price however. I can't wait for the release of there new smaller cheaper one next month.
i hate mac with a passion. i have worked with their computers since i was in 1st grade and will continue til im out of school, because thats all my school has. but i have to say the ipod isnt so bad. it has a nice design but is priced way too high.
Ipod is a cool piece of egineering- electronic and cultural. I would consider buying one taking the slick design as a substitute for the poor audio fidelity and high cost, but to not be able to replace the battery is just insulting. Almost like paying top dollar for a computer that only runs 10% of the available software.
about the audio fidelity- stereophile did a review of it and when using aiff file formats you get quality equal to that of cds. and for mp3's at 320kbps, the quality of these is more than enough for a portable audio device. http://www.stereophile.com/digitalsourcereviews/934/ snowman- schools are never good with computers, i wish my school had macs instead of pcs!! we might actually be able to use them once in a while. i dont see the fact people hate macs relate to the i-pod anyway, mine is a pc version and you dont have to use any mac interfaces, nout. its just a portable music player. about the zen, yeh it was the older one i saw, but even seeing the new one, i think the i-pod's screen is nicer. its bigger and i find it easier to look at. as far as wma is concerned....i dont see the point in using it. theres lots of restrictions with it, mp3's are just easier.
i would definitaly consider a "low cost" ipod if they are launched at the right price. i dont need more than 2gb to store music anyways. half the cds in my drawer i dont listen to anymore, so wuts the point of ripping them?
