Why is my motherboard running so hot?

amd 64x2 3800+
3.5gig ram
evga 9600 gt vid card
asus a8m2n-la mobo
stock cpu fan

the most i ever do with this comp is surf and play WoW.. nothing more ..

core 1 35 c
core 2 22 c
gfx 38c
mobo 53 c
this is what it is right atm with wow open and min

after an hour of game play everything reaches mid to high 40s but mobo reaches mid to high 60s.. using nvidia system monitor

any insight on this would be awesome.... much appreciated.
 
It could be the chipset on the motherboard getting hot, usually those are the hottest things second to the graphics cards. That's because they ususally only have a heatsink and no fan.
 
Umm...80 C? Do you ever get that high? You know, the temperatures are not always spot on. They can't be exact if it's like 80C and you're running WoW with no lag.
 
Do you have a small case with little airflow? If there's no air to carry the heat away it just sits on the heatsink and drifts away slowly.
 
North , South , but not East or West

If this the southbridge we're talking about, the graphics card above it blocks air flow, (the heat can't rise), and leaves it in a pocket of still air.
