I don't think you provided the correct "Model #". This is a VAIO, correct?

It can not be determined what your PC can handle from this information. What we need is to know if your PC has a PCI-Express or AGP video slot. Since "64MB Intel Graphics Controller" is not a standard retail video card, I can not tell what kind of video source it is (onboard, PCI-E or AGP). If "onboard", it will need to be disabled in the BIOS in order to use a separate video card. If you are not comfortable with all this, take the computer to a tech.

The reason I ask, is I`ve just been to the Sony website and can`t find any info for a PCV-RS221. I can find PCV-RS222 etc, but nothing for that model.

According to your computers manual. You only have pci slots for adding cards etc. See the upgrading section.

Ahhh, the Asus KIRIN-V motherboard...

No, this was not a simple question as Sony really screwed the pooch with this motherboard.

The Asus KIRIN-V actually HAS an AGP slot and is designed to have one above it's topmost PCI slot, but Sony saved the $1.25 and decided to just leave the plastic connector off the motherboard....

So, yes- you cannot run a PCI-Express nor an AGP card.. you're limited to just a handful of very low-end PCI cards if you wish to expand the video capabilities. Pretty much the Radeon 9250, FX series (AVOID), or the Geforce 6200 PCI.

Edit: No you can`t use a ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum PCI-Express 256MB Graphics Card. Your system doesn`t have a PCI-Express slot. It only has PCI slots.
