Solved Windows - Delayed Write Failed, Critical Error, System Fix

Sorry, I must have missed that.

I am trying to do the scan now but it says: Can not get update. Is proxy configured?

How should I proceed? Would downloading it solve that issue? There's a link to download it to my pc.

I don't have another working browser. Should I try downloading it directly to my laptop, they have an option where I can do that. Maybe it will work that way.

Firefox doesn't work on my pc for some reason. It has connection problems, IE is the only browser that works on my laptop. I downloaded firefox anyway to see if the problem was somehow fixed but it's not, it won't connect to my server for some reason. Would you like to me download the ESET scanner instead?

Please, run F-Secure Online Scanner

  • Disable your Antivirus program.
  • Checkmark I have read and accepted the license terms.
  • Click on Run Check button.
  • Quick scan (recommended) option will come pre-checked. Don't change it.
  • Click on Start button.
  • When scan is done, in Step 3: Clean the files, leave all settings as they're.
  • Click Next button.
  • Click Full report... button.
  • Copy report's content and paste it into your next reply.

Try this one...

Please run a BitDefender Online Scan

  • Disable your antivirus program.
  • Click Start Scanner button.
  • Click Free scan now button
  • Allow browser plug-in to be installed when prompted.
  • Click I Agree to agree to the EULA.
  • Please refrain from using the computer until the scan is finished.
  • When the scan is finished, click on View report.
  • Notepad will open with scan results.
  • Save the report to your desktop and post its content in your next reply.

Please click HERE to download Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool.

  • Double click on the file you just downloaded and let it install.
  • It will install to your desktop (be patient; it may take a while).
  • Accept license agreement and click "Start" button.
  • Click on Settings button
    p4484522.gif
    • In Scan scope leave pre-checked items as they're and also checkmark My Computer
    • In Actions checkmark Select action: (disinfect; delete if disinfection fails) instead of preselected Prompt on detection
  • Click on Automatic Scan tab and then click on Start scanning button.
  • Before it is done it may prompt for action regardless of the setting so choose delete if prompted.
  • When the scan is done NO log will be produced.
  • Click on Report button
    p4484523.gif
then on Automatic Scan report tab.
  • Right click anywhere within right pane, click Select All then right click again and click Copy.
  • This will copy the items that it found to the clipboard you can then open notepad (go to start then run then type in notepad) and choose paste to paste the contents into Notepad.
  • You can save this on the desktop.
  • Post the contents of the document in your next reply.

The scan is finally done, I ended up having to restart my computer because when I went to copy the results the program froze. Now I am not sure how to get back to the program so I am able to copy and paste the results of the scan to you.

If you didn't save the log there is no way to recover it.
I'm afraid you'll have to re-run it.

Oh wow! Okay, I will do so now. The last scan took about 3 hours so that is what I will be doing now. Sorry about that.

So I did the scan again, woke up this morning and it was complete. I went to copy the results and the program froze AGAIN. It is currently froze and I am going to have to restart my computer again. I'm not sure what to do since the program is not responding now. Every time I go to select all and copy the results of the scan it freezes. I am going to try and do the scan again but instead of doing the select all and copy I am going to hit the save button, hopefully that will save the results without causing the program to freeze.

Okay, I finally have the results of the scan saved and I am trying to copy them so I can send it to you but of course it is too much to paste and send all at once so I have to select portions of the results and copy and past them into a message. That is what I have been doing for the last hour and a half. If you know an easier way to send you the results please let me know, if not I will continue to use the method I've been using.

Thanks!

All looks clean.

Your computer is clean

1. We need to reset system restore to prevent your computer from being accidentally reinfected by using some old restore point(s). We'll create fresh, clean restore point, using following OTL script:

Run OTL

  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following:

Code:
:OTL
:Commands
[purity]
[emptytemp]
[EMPTYFLASH]
[CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS]
[Reboot]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
  • Post resulting log.

2. Now, we'll remove all tools, we used during our cleaning process

Clean up with OTL:

  • Double-click OTL.exe to start the program.
  • Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
  • On the OTL main screen, press the CLEANUP button
  • Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

If you still have any tools or logs leftover on your computer you can go ahead and delete those off of your computer now.

3. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.

4. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!

5. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

6. Run Malwarebytes "Quick scan" once in a while to assure safety of your computer.

7. Run Temporary File Cleaner (TFC) weekly.

8. Download and install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI): https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4898-secunia-personal-software-inspector-psi.html. The Secunia PSI is a FREE security tool designed to detect vulnerable and out-dated programs and plug-ins which expose your PC to attacks. Run it weekly.

9. (optional) If you want to keep all your programs up to date, download and install FileHippo Update Checker.
The Update Checker will scan your computer for installed software, check the versions and then send this information to FileHippo.com to see if there are any newer releases.

10. (Windows XP only) Run defrag at your convenience.

11. When installing\updating ANY program, make sure you always select "Custom " installation, so you can UN-check any possible "drive-by-install" (foistware), like toolbars etc., which may try to install along with the legitimate program. Do NOT click "Next" button without looking at any given page.

12. Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic2520.html

13. Please, let me know, how your computer is doing.

Do I manually go through and delete the programs we installed during the cleaning process or will OTL do it for me?

OTL will remove most of them.
You can delete all others. They don't install.

Going to the movies so when you're done don't forget:
13. Please, let me know, how your computer is doing.

My computer seems to be running well. I don't see any problems. All of my programs are working correctly. Firefox is actually working now, which is a surprise! There are no outrageous pop-ups or anything of that nature. Everything seems to be running smoothly! You are a genius, thank you so much. As soon as I have the chance I will be sure to make a donation! I appreciate your help so much, and I thank you for your patience with me. Once again, THANK YOU!
