windows install on new Dell laptop

Hey guys, i know a little about computer but not to much.... i have a dell inspiron 1100 laptop, the hard drive went in it, so i ordered a new hard drive, when it came in a installed it...i went to load XP from the XP cds i got with the computer from dell...all the computer tells me is "invalid system disk"..whats is going on with it...

Perhaps you need to set the BIOS to boot from CD ROM
