Windows Media Player server error?

First off thank you for reading this instead of skimming by, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, here's the problem. I cannot access video files on my computer (running on windows 7 64-bit). NO AVI files seem to work, I've tested them all. Yup, every single one. Here's how it goes:

Click an .avi file
Loads for about 5-20 seconds
Error message "Server Execution failure"

Now I've tried restarting Windows Live Media Player, but it hasn't done a thing.

As said before, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like a problem with your Internet connection and not with Windows

Unfortunately not. After searching around, a few other people online have the same problem.
