    Widows XP Pro, SP2?
F12, paint, select areas... no workie :(

I have Windows Firewall, and Security Center in my control panel... You don't. This tells me that you are running XP, SP1 only. Go into Control Panel, System and tell me what the screen says

    is your windows corrupt?

Try formatting, make sure your discs are clean.. no smudges etc.

    Sure bazou..

You find the catergory.. by read what they are for, if you have a video card problem you would post in "Audio and Video" click the Audio Video link and it brings up a page.. then click up the top "New topic" give your topic a name like "My video card is being stupid" or what ever your problem is, than post your message under, wait a while for some one too answer.

From taicheng last jpg of his control panel, it seems like his XP has not been upgraded to SP2 (Service Pack 2) I doubt if Windows is corrupt... taicheng would see many more troubles. XP can be "repaired" without formatting, although I prefer to FDISK and FORMAT when things are too bad :)

Ok.. so you still can't sign into msn messenger still?

From what i've just read through you've set the clock to the correct date/time, firewall etc?

If you're using the new MSN Windows Live Messenger then make sure your email account has been transfered to their new Windows Mail Beta service (from that green button in hotmail).

are you connected to a router?
    If so:
-Open up your router's config page, navigate to your WAN settings.
-Locate something called MTU. If its set to 1500 change it to 1400 (little trick i've picked up)

Windows firewall sucks. Get a proper firewall if you wish to keep your machine relatively clean.. Download Zonalarm Free or Kerio Personal Firewall.

Are you running XP with SP2? From you last sceen capture you do not have the Security Center, or Windows Firewall icons. check to make sure that you are current with your MS updates...

    taicheng,
You need to upgrade your XP to SERVICE PACK 2... You may still be infected with a Trojan virus or something worse! I would strongly suggest that you format your C drive and reinstall XP clean... then upgrade to SP2 and a bunch of critical updates before and after. I hope you have a fast Internet connection

umm, is the SP2 another service pack i have to pay to upgrade? or...

I don't tihnk I have to though...Msn was working fine for me just last week...

XP Service Pack 2 is available free from Windows Update. Windows Update is on your system, just enable it... I said earlier that your system is probably infected. Not having Service Pack 2 just complicates things a little, that's all
