Help!

I've got an almighty problem. When I try to boot up in windows I get a hall.dll file is missing warning telling me to reinstall.

I tried to boot up with a windows CD to run recovery. It says that it cannot do this and try chkdsk. When I do that it says that all the files are unreadable so I am screwed.

I then took the corrupt drive out of the machine and ran it as a slave on my girlfriend's machines. I tried to access it and it kept saying that the drive will need to be formatted. The files are really important and I cannot do a fresh install and don't know what to do. Does anybody know what to do about this.
