I love the idea of Windows 8 and with Pokki it is basically a refined Windows 7. But Windows 7 is enough for me now, but I may be able to get my friend to get hold of a legit copy of 8 for me :D. I love Win7s Aero though, but Win 8 looks cool

I love how my gaming desktop runs with Windows 7 and I'd be hard put to go through the trouble of installing a new OS if it does not promise any truly convincing performance gains. So for my main machine -- and probably for the computer I use for recording music -- I'm thinking I won't be using W8, for now.

I will have to switch to Windows 8 on my laptop, however, as just about every computer at work will be reformatted for it before the year ends. And I already have a copy of 8CP running on my laptop, anyway.

it has no advantage in performance, but when engines utilize DX 11.1, then it will see big gains. most games have been compiled and tested on Windows 7, so they have no been optimized for Windows 8. It may be a year at least, but most likely 2 or 3 years before game developers adopt it. DX10 was barely adopted... so that may be the same with DX11.1

No. I'm happy with windows 7, and I will keep it until Microsoft stops supporting it.

I am not looking forward to upgrading, as I've said so many times, but I think I am going to wait a bit before re-installing Windows 7. I am going to wait and see how the sales are doing. Not windows itself, but PC and windows 8 based tablets. If they will sell a lot of them then I've got a theory that there is going software companies are going to make an effort to make their applications compatible with it. That's my main sticking point right now. So much software and games I try to use on this thing has problems running (even in the compatibility mode). Photoshop for one.
Hopefully Micro"crashalot"soft will fix some really *****ic things by that time as well.

    P.S. I am using Windows 8 64Bit right now.

Not a chance. After having tried this POS for almost two months, pre-RTM... I have returned to 7... The only way I might have upgraded is if they allowed an option for a PC installation (Mouse, keyboard, power-users... you know, the folks that actually have work to do?) and an alternate Tablet (For the touch crowd. You know, for those just looking to play) installation. Maybe if a third-party makes a utility to wipe the ridiculous tablet-oriented UI. ...and I expect someone will eventually make it. There WILL be a market for it, believe me!

I don't see any compelling reason to upgrade from Windows 7. I'll keep playing around with Windows 8 in a VirtualBox (with Start8 installed), but won't be making any OS changes anytime soon.
