Windows xp setup hangs - need help disabling devices

i'm trying to get past this bootup problem, now i'm almost there and during the repair install of windows xp the setup stops at intstalling devices part of the setup. the recommended microsoft thing to do is try disabling and usb devices, sound cards, network cards, etc. but i don't know how to do that, could someone help me? btw, the setup reads 35 minutes remaining, i've left in on all night with no progress. thanks for any input in advance

Disable usb from BIOS.Also if you have sound card,video,network on the mobo disable them from the bios...
If works,enable them after the instalation....
