WINDVD 5 Gold wont work with Windows ME can anyone help me pls?

    Somehow the windvd that was bundled with my computer got deleted or corruptedso I bought WINDVD 5 Gold and installed it but it refuses to work.
    When I put in a dvd disc the light goes on momentarily on dvd drive then goes
    out then nothing. drive does work fine when using other functions with it.
    Has anyone out there experienced this problem and found a fix for it?
    Any help would be appreciated. If this is the wrong forum I'm sorry..Just became a new member.

    Windows ME means a PC that is at least 5 years old. Check the requirements for WinDVD Gold, you may find that you need extra software or more advanced hardware even.
    Minimum requirement is DirectX8.1, the current version is DirectX9.0c.
    Uninstall WinDVD, install DX, then re-install WinDVD.
