XP installed but can't log on.

I have WinME on primary and XP and Win2k on Extended.

I installed XP and when I tried to log on I got the following message: "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted".

I found the following MS Knowledge Base article http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283133 which told me to go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;257338

Unfortunately, the article is "Greek" to me.

Can anyone make this simple or have a "work around"?

How did you manage that, if your are not on a network with a domain controller? You must have done something pretty strange during the XP installation.

Not sure what a domain controller is but....I use a router and am networked to two other computer in my office.

Re-formatted and did a clean install and I'm "up and running".

Perhaps he specified a domain controller when he first installed XP?
