XP SP3 and ntdll.dll

By jsmileb

  1. Trying to install XP-SP3. I get a message that the file C:/Windows/system32/ntdll.dll is being used by another program and stops the install. Have closed all identities and programs, startup on the start menu is empty. Taskmanager shows no active programs. I cannot see anything in running processes that would be unusual. Any ideas as to how I can find what might be using this file?
    XP-MCE
Service Pack 2 and all updates to date
Avast Antivirus (even tried turning that off)

Try installing it in Safe Mode.

Muchas gracias, Zenosincks. Burned an ISO image and seems to be installing just fine. Have never failed to solve a problem using sources like Technet, thanks to participants like you. Thanks again!
