I recently got my laptop infected from a flashdrive by this virus....yaiav.exe....now any flashdrive, sd card etc I plug gets all my files changed to windows media files thats unusable and it adds 6 more called sex, porn, X, secrets, passwords and yaiav[hidden]....on my laptop, yaiav.exe is all I can find in registry and processes [task manager]....I cant end process as it causes task manager to stop working and close and it replaces itself in the registry.
yaiav.exe [if thats the true name] does not appear anywhere on google search, I've tried strategies used with similar viruses but I'm not a big fan of windows 7 starter so I hav just been prodding in the dark...tried to stop process, cant stop, causes task manager to close, delete from registry, reappears, cant locate actual file....PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!

I am not familiar with this malware and you are the only one on the internet showing it. But what needs to be done is to get information on what is on the system.

Since to mention that all the remvable drives cause the problem, I suggest you begin by trying to disinfect them first:

  • Please download Panda USB Vaccine(you must provide valid e-mail and they will send you download link to this e-mail address) to your desktop.
  • Install and run it.
  • Plug in USB drive and click on Vaccinate USB and Vaccinate computer.

Let me know if this is successful. Then let me know what you can do with the system.

If you cleaned the flash drive and can access these links in the following, run the scans and leave the logs for me to review>>>>>>

Please follow these steps: Preliminary Virus and Malware Removal.

NOTE: If you already have any of the scanning programs on the computer, please remove them and download the versions in these links.

When you have finished, leave the logs for review in your next reply .
NOTE: Logs must be pasted in the replies. Attached logs will not be reviewed.
