Sharp launches '3D' LCD screen

If you are willing to shell out $1,499, then you can be the lucky owner of a new type of Sharp flat screen monitor which produces the illusion of a three-dimensional image without the need for special glasses.

Sharp expects gamers in particular to be very excited about this little baby, which can create the 3D illusion from source material that was not specially created to do so. The monitor can also turn off this function, so that the next time you are surfing Techspot, the text won't leap off the page at you.

 1. Cool!Very wicked.. I hope this sorta stuff goes mainstream, if its actually practical and gives games an extra splash in real life.
 2. Yet a small note on Sharp's site says
Note: The LL-151-3D cannot translate 2D images into 3D on its own and requires software for this operation.
 3. Oh, well I didn't realise that.Hopefully this is just in the form of a driver or something similar.
 4. Games? Yeah. It is PORN what will drive this sorta thing. The same way it did to broadband.
 5. Heh 3D porn, that makes those porn clips you dl off the net have a little more replay value...
