Loss of WinFS damages other technologies

As we reported recently, Longhorn is to loose several of its big technologies in order that it can make a 2006 release. One of the main technologies to be lost was WinFS, the next generation file system that has been decoupled from Longhorn. And it appears that this has caused other problems, specifically for technologies that depend on WinFS. One of the most prominent of these technologies is the Microsoft Business Framework (MBF). This is a set of developer tools and software classes designed to build atop Microsoft's .Net Framework. Many other products such as the Visual Studio .Net tool suite and the Microsoft Business Portal depend on MBF. All in all, it looks like that in order to get the 2006 release, we are going to get something of a mess.
