SLI-Capable Socket 754 Boards Available
Breathing more life into Socket 754, there are now SLI-Capable Motherboards for the “junior” Athlon64 socket. Socket 754, the original Athlon64 socket, is now designed to be “entry-level”, in conjunction with the Sempron and/or early Athlon64 processors. A lot of people were worried that support for it would be dropped completely, but now Epox and Albatron have given these boards a facelift and provided them with SLI support using the nForce 4 Chipset. Though AMD has no plans to continue releasing processors for Socket 754, the Sempron is earning a reputation as a popular hobby chip, and once SLI capable nVidia cards come down in price you might get a very big punch out of this sort of combination.
