AMD and NASCAR to Partner

By Justin Mann on October 7, 2005, 1:11 PM
In a press release issued yesterday, AMD has announced that they will be the “Official Technology Partner” for the very famous and by many cherished U.S.-Based racing organization NASCAR. The primary purpose for this relationship seems to be for AMD to develop hardware that helps improve the performance of the cars and make the races... safer, and even timing on the course. This is the first partnership of its type that AMD has entered into and is good news for AMD backers. The technologies will be AMD64 based and include a mobile server unit capable of being used at any track.

I'm not a fan but I guess Nascar is a huge market in the states. Hopefully it will improve AMD's image with consumers. I still talk to people who feel that AMD is what you get if you can afford the intel chips.
