We've heard rumors and we've seen demos, now it is official. Quad SLI boards are on their way, with Gigabyte's GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal ready to give gamers all they need. Sporting four (4) PCI-Ex x16 slots and a release date (although initially only for asian markets) as soon as the end of November, the board is clearly targeted at cash-laden gamers and video enthusiasts. It uses the now-standard nForce 4 SLI chipset, 2 full-bandwidth 16 land PCI-Ex links (enough for 4 cards), up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM and P4 D processors, fully equipping this board will not be easy, cheap or light on the power consumption. With 4 video cards and a heavy load CPU, even the quality 500W PSUs may end up struggling. Finally a use for those "ridiculous" 600W+ monsters. We will see. Definitely interesting, and it will be doubly so to see the board in action as it begins to get reviews.
