Concerns about southbridge supply

Motherboard makers are expressing concern about a potential southbridge supply shortage, in the aftermath of the PCI Express (PCIe) CrossFire Xpress 3200 (RD580) chipset release from ATI.

ULi provides southbridge support for the RD 580 chipset, but the Taiwan-based company was recently acquired by rival Nvidia. Industry observers have voiced concerns about potential supply disruptions from ULi.
