Software hacker finds workaround for Skype-Intel lockout
A clever fellow has found a workaround for the supposedly "Intel-only" features of Skype's VOIP software. Utilizing a self-created patch, it allows the same functionality using an AMD processor, such as 10-way conferencing, as when using it on the "required" Intel Dual-Core. As a disclaimer, Skype has only identified the Intel chip as compatible, but did not mention any sort of other testing. The truth of it all? It will most likely be drug out into courts, in a slow and ugly battle. Considering the technology relationship that has existed between AMD and Intel for a long time, it is puzzling to think why a particular vendor would lock themselves to a single chip, though that isn't anything new. Interesting stuff.

yep they pay them big bucks and incentives to only allowing Intel processors, and not allowing their competitors to compete. 1 more for the Intel/AMD anti trust case.
