We're always wary of rumors, but it may be such that the much anticipated AM2 socket might be released 2 weeks early. Originally set for June 6th and now for May 23rd, while 2 weeks may be a fairly insignificant amount of time, it's good news in that it shows AMD is more prepared with both sockets and CPUs than initially thought. It's probably bigger news to vendors, looking to offer something before any competitor. Usually we face delays, not early releases. Many have been eagerly awaiting AM2, though many soley because it will probably help drive the price of 939 boards and CPUs down. Mostly, I'm looking forward to see how DDR2 behaves when coupled with an AMD processor, especially the very high-end DDR2 that AMD will "supposedly" support.
