According to some sources, AMD has begun introducing the triple-core Phenom to market with mass shipments to major OEMs. In particular, the two biggest names in the market, Dell and HP, have both suggested in the past they are going to make triple-core desktops available, and last month AMD confirmed that initially they'd only be offering the CPUs to big vendors.

It makes sense to start a launch that way, but for enthusiasts sake I hope they do not wait too long in making the CPUs available for individual purchase. It will be most interesting to watch how the market receives a triple-core unit, which right now has no niche to fill and has not yet proven itself. AMD believes there is ample market between dual and quad core. Now we'll get to see if that's true.
