Wii outsells PS3 3-to-1 in Japan

Despite the considerable improvement Sony has made in making the PS3 attractive, with more games, more exclusives and other additions, Nintendo is still enjoying a clear lead in sales. In Japan, the Wii is currently outselling the PS3 at a ratio of more than 3 to 1. That was true for July, and while it hasn't always been that big of a gap Nintendo has yet to lose against Sony for gamer attention.

Handhelds were a different story, and the PSP still proves to be amazingly popular. Microsoft isn't even mentioned in Japan, and perhaps won't ever be, with the Xbox 360 still doing terrible in Nintendo and Sony's homeland.

  1. the taste difference between games are completely different between japan and the u.s. The jpnese were never fond of fps games in general. M$ needs to start bringing out games that appeal to the jpnese. I've noticed they been releasing some rpgs but they need to release more that. RPGs alone will not help the 360 over there.
  2. But according to Sony this statistic it doesn't matter, because Sony doesn't consider the Wii competition. =P
