Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 prices in Europe, again

Back in March, Microsoft announced a drop of €80 for all Xbox 360 models in Europe, officially making the casual gamer-oriented 360 Arcade bundle a cheaper buy than the Nintendo Wii. While one would think that no more price cuts were coming to Europe for the rest of the year, Microsoft has announced another drop in the Xbox 360 line today for the second time in six months.

The new price points come into effect September 19, with the bare bones Arcade model now selling for £129.99 in the UK or €179 elsewhere in Europe, the 60GB model for £169.99 or €239, and the 120GB Elite console for £229.99 or €299. The announcement comes just weeks after similar price cuts in Japan and the US, which have resulted in a strong boost in sales – no doubt Microsoft is hoping for a similar effect in this region.
