MSI recently added a new member to its Wind netbook line and unveiled two X-Slim notebooks that combine a thin form factor with a price tag below the $1,000 mark. Further blurring the line between netbooks and ultra-portable notebooks, the company is now reportedly on the verge of introducing a new 12-inch system, which interestingly enough carries an U2xx model number reserved for their Wind netbook line, but drops the typical Atom processor in favor of Intel's new CULV platform.
The so-called MSI Wind U200 ups the specs a bit when compared to the multitude of netbooks currently available on the market. It features a 12-inch LED-backlit display with 1366 x 768 resolution, Intel Celeron M ULV 723 1.20GHz processor, GMA 4500M integrated graphics, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 2GB RAM, and 250GB of storage. It also comes loaded with Windows Vista Home and, unfortunately, sports a mere 3-cell battery that probably won't keep the thing alive for too long.
MSI is expected to officially unveil the U200 tomorrow, hopefully revealing pricing details as well, but going by Intel's recently leaked mobile platform plans for 2009 we'd expect it to sell for around $699.
