Logitech on Wednesday announced the G402 Hyperion Fury Ultra-Fast FPS gaming mouse, a pointer that the company claims is the fastest mouse on the planet with tracking speeds of more than 500 inches per second.

In a press release on the matter, Logitech points out that a common complaint among gamers is their mice can't track as fast as they move. This new pointer should solve that issue, we're told.

The Hyperion Fury is the result of three years of intense research and development according to Ehtisham Rabbani, general manager of the Logitech gaming business. The device owes its speedy tracking capabilities to the onboard 32-bit ARM processor and Delta Zero sensor technology but there's more to this gaming rodent than sheer speed.

This FPS-minded mouse features eight fully programmable buttons with 1ms report rates and on-the-fly DPI switching between four different settings. Each button can support a single keystroke or complex macros through Logitech's gaming software. Configurations are saved onboard the mouse so they'll travel with you should you move to a new system.

While no mention of it was made in the press release, it's clear based on photos that the mouse also features LED lighting of some sort.

The Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury is slated for an August release in Europe and the US with Logitech accepting pre-orders as of writing. Expect to pay $59.99 for the opportunity.
