App analytics research firm App Annie recently published a list of the most popular iOS apps of all-time. As you might expect, the list is dominated by social networking apps - many of which are owned by Facebook.

The social networking giant tops the list followed by Facebook Messenger. Google's YouTube placed third followed by Instagram (another Facebook-owned app) in fourth place. Microsoft's Skype is the fifth most popular iOS app followed by WhatsApp (Facebook again), Find My iPhone, Google Maps, Twitter and iTunes U, in that order.

When looking at the top apps by revenue, Pandora Radio trumps all others. Line, Zoosk, Pages by Apple and Spotify round out the top five in that order. Interestingly enough, Skype was the only app that appeared on both the top 10 downloads and revenue list.

The firm also ranked games by download and revenue.

Candy Crush Saga beat out all others in terms of download numbers. Fruit Ninja finished second with Angry Birds, Subway Surfers and Despicable Me rounding out the top five. It's a bit of a different story when looking at revenue, however, as Clash of Clans sits atop the coveted earnings chart. Candy Crush Saga is still making plenty of cheese in second place, as are Puzzles & Dragons, Game of War: Fire Age and Monster Strike in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
