Application Performance

For our real-world application tests we ran a small and a large calculation using Microsoft Excel 2007. The P7P55D Deluxe and the MSI P55-GD65 delivered exactly the same result in the former, while the P7P55D Deluxe took 12 seconds longer to complete our large calculation test.

Although the built-in WinRAR test didn't show a significant difference between the P7P55D Deluxe and the other P55 motherboards, our custom compression test was more extensive. Here the P7P55D Deluxe took 10 seconds longer than the MSI P55-GD65 compressing the Windows 7 installation files and 35 seconds longer than the Maximum III Gene, though in absolute terms the different is not as significant.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 provided us with mixed results. The Asus P7P55D Deluxe matched the performance of the competing P55 motherboards for the extrude test, which takes significantly longer to complete than our smart blur test. However it was the latter test that saw the P7P55D Deluxe come unstuck, as it took significantly longer to complete compared to the MSI P55-GD65.
