Sun releases Java Desktop System 2
Sun Microsystems have released a version of its Java Desktop System software based on Solaris, in a new step to move things closer to Linux. The Java Desktop System (JDS) includes an operating system as well as other, higher level software, such as the Gnome GUI, Mozilla Web browser and Star Office. The version released by Sun was version 2. Version 3 should be arriving by the end of the year, and should be easier to use.
