NTL to speed up broadband services

By

UK cable services and broadband provider NTL is set to increase its downstream speeds by huge amounts. The entry level service will be going from 300kbps downstream to 1Mbps, which in itself is staggering enough, given that it brings a whole new dimension to "entry level" and may even force other providers to follow suit. In addition, the 750kbps service will now be 2Mbps, while the current 1Mbps service will become 3Mbps downstream. All of this will happen without any increases in monthly subscription charge. The changes should take place some time in Q1 2005.
