ok, you know your memory is ok.

So then your drivers for your card are outdated or no good
or
Windows is corrupt.

more than likely it is your drivers.

Hello Gurus,

I am another poor Win user suffering the same problem related by previous messages in this thread. I am using Win XP Home Edition SP2, and it worked perfectly until 2 weeks ago, when with no apparent reason (no new SW or HW installed) my system started to crash randomly. I got some of the messages described here ("Error caused by device"; "Error caused by graphical device"; STOP on blue screen; NON_PAGED on blue screen), and some messages about having my registry being recovered. My applications are crashing too - some applications like Windows Movie Maker are almost unusable.

I tend to think that it may really be something related to the graphical adapter, but I'm a little bit skeptical since other application (not so graphic intense) are crashing as well.

Well, some more details about my system:
- CPU: AMD Athlon64 3.2G
- RAM: 4 pieces of 512MB each
- MB: ASUS A8V Deluxe
- Graphics: Realtek Winfast A6600 TD 128MB Nvidia AGP

I'm attaching some dumps here

Do you guys think it is possible that the memory, MB or CPU are gone (i.e. electrical surge)? If it is possible, is there a way to find out what is the problem (like a diagnosis software)?

Thanks!
Cheers

I aslo seem to get an error when running a system scan with Norton antivirus 2005, it jus restarts the computer....any ideas why...?

I checked all the drivers usuni Win xp's driver verifying tool (Start/run/verifier.exe)
but it says nothing is wrong as far as i can tell.....

Tedster

certainly possible. I had a power spike on my old computer and even with a surge protector it bumped my primary hard drive and toasted my memory slot 3.

The surge protector was old so I can't make any claims.

Here it is...

I am trying to install windows xp pro and a COMPLETELY new box. It wont and I don't know what's wrong...

When I say "blue screen of death", I'm refering to these errors (it has done these and probably more but I stopped writing them down):

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
0x0000000A (0x40876b2c,0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x807caa56)
and
0x0000004e (0x0000008f, 0x00021016, 0x0002101e, 0x00000000)

Sometimes I get the Blue Screen of Death at random, but depending on what I'm doing I can expect it sometimes. I have gotten it to the point of where I partition it... here it is

Problem 1:
I randomly get the blue screen of death (obvously a bad thing)

Problem 2:
Every time I partition a drive I get the blue screen of death. I restart (the partition remains) and I have to do it again (till I get all the partitions I need/want.

Problem 3:
When I go to install windows it sais I need to format the partition. When I tell it to go, it gets 1/2 through the format and then guess what!!! BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

System Specs:
AMD 64 |3200+ ATHLON 64 939P

After recently installing 2 educational games for my younger sister, my computer shows BSOD/restarts itself after you log off and then try to change to a different user, after the games have been played. I'm runing Windows XP Home, fully updated & with SP2.
It is relatively easy to replicate the problem. The BSOD usually says

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Below is some info out of event viewer for recent system errors, some occur more often than others:

---
Mini061805-03.txt (64.0 KB)
Error code 1000007f, parameter1 00000008, parameter2 80042000, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000000.
---
Mini061805-02.txt (64.0 KB)
Error code 0000000a, parameter1 00000065, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 804db701.
---
Mini061505-01.txt (64.0 KB)
Error code 1000000a, parameter1 ff5e5080, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 804eb7e3.
---
Mini061305-01.txt (88.0 KB)
Error code 1000000a, parameter1 ff04ac01, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 8051cd07.
---

I have no idea what these mean, but i see that other people have posted crash dumps, so i've added mine.
There was no reference to any drivers in the BSOD message.

If someone could tell me what is going wrong here, and a fix (if any), i would be very grateful.

Try replacing your memory module

Drewnix

My problem was the memory. I ran the memory check program recommended in this thread, and I found several problems.
Removed the faulty module, and it is fine now. At least so far... ;-)

Ok the one that says (new) is my new HD. the others are my old HD

My PC specs are
2.53ghz P4
Nvidia Geforce4 MMX440(is it me or a lot of people get problems with this)
1gb SDRAM

I often get bsod on old one and sometimes I get bsod on new one.

When the BSOD occurs, write down the first 4 hexadecimal numbers. Proceed to the Microsoft Knowledge Base and search for them. Quite often a detailed explaination of what has happened will be available.

I am currently running the following:

Dell Inspiron 1200
1.2 GHZ Celeron
248 MB
Windows XP Home SP2

I just got the machine and have been in the process of updating with all the security patches from Windows.

However, I am constantly getting the BSOD - and obviously with no real meaning to the message.

I have verified that all devices are ok and none are invalid.

I am attaching several dump files along with the sysdata.xml file for your reference.

Any help is greatly appreciate.
Thanks,
-Nicolas

I normally don't open attachments unless I know the sender personally.
It's much better to list it in the message.
please post your problems in a separate thread, it's too confusing when we're helping someone else. Also list completely your entire system components.
If you only have 256MB of memory, you are running short. XP is a memory hog and although will run with 256MB, it doesn't like it. 512MB is optimal for most people.

To start troubleshooting remove all but the esential components. Leave the video card, the CD rom, the HD drive in. If your motherboard has onboard video and sound, DISABLE onboard video and sound in BIOS. Most onboard VIDEO and sound are crap. Use a card for those functions. If you don't know how to get into BIOS, RTFM. You can really jack things up in BIOS if you don't know what you're doing. To get into BIOS you must hold or press a key while the computer is booting up. This is usually the F1, DEL, or some other key. Your manual will tell you.

Boot your Windows XP CD. Low level format your HD drive. let XP do it's thing. After installation, load your motherboard's drivers immediately off the CD that came with it. This will eliminate most problems.

If you're still getting BSOD errors, you have a hardware issue.

Three minidumps crash at nVidia Display Drivers. You had better install nVidia Display Card Driver version 61.77. One minidump has the symptom of memory corruption which is usually caused by faulty ram.

Yes for problem isolation you should install nVidia version 61.77 as it is a stable version. If your PC stil crashes and the problem must be related to faulty hardware such as RAM or L2 cache memory of the CPU.

I am a newbie having the same device driver error problem (Windows XP Pro). I have unchecked the box to keep the blue screen of death on screen, but it just resets anyhow. It won't even let me restore my computer to an earlier setting. I have lots of work on my system that I need to burn onto data cd, then I was going to wipe the hard disk and start from scratch, but it resets when I'm trying to burn onto CD. I've lost 30 DVDs already! In Computer Management there are yellow triangles with warning exclamations regarding tcpip source, and red circles with white crosses from a DCOM source or system error. Any advice, please, I'm desperate! Also, how does one start a new topic on this forum? You can email me if you like at renwick@mytrashmail.com

Hey everybody,
I recently reinstalled winXP Pro and after installing drivers I started to get the bsod.
When windows restarted and took me to the online crash analysis it says "Error Caused by Graphics Device Driver". This has only happend during GTA San Andreas (it is one of the few things I've been doing since I reinstalled windows) and doesn't happen while normally browesing online or at the desktop. I tried a few things like lowering my AGP setting from 8x to 4x , disabling write combining, disabling fastwrite, and increasing the AGP voltage to 1.6v but I've had no luck so far.

The error message Windows gives me is :
Error Message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (Q293078)

I am completly lost and need some help please!

Hi Eternal,

I've processed your minidumps and it is a hardware error. Your Windows have various bugcheck codes such as 0A, 24, 50, 8E and D1. One minidump is inaccessible and one minidump failied at IRQL x'1c' which is at clock level interrupt. According to my record it is hardware error. For similar symptom, 4 are related to CPU, 1 is M/B and one 1 is RAM.

The BSOD occurs when your XP was SP1. After you upgrade to SP2, your XP still gets BSOD. This is an another evidence it is a hardware error.

There have no reliable tool to diagnostic which hardware component is faulty. You can try Windows Memory Diagnostic but it is very new. Memtest86 is not reliable.

I am sure this is a hardware problem. There has no good tools to find out hardware component is faulty. Memtest86 is not reliable. Even memtest86 reports faulty hardware and you don't whether it is ram or L2 cache memory of CPU.

My record is based upon my resolved cases. As my sample is small and it may be inaccurate. After you fix the problem, you must let me know the result. I update my record and my recommendation for this case will be more accurate.

According to experience, I will try this sequence CPU, M/B and then RAM.

I think you changed the video card from ATI to nVdia. One crash is probably caused by nVidia Display Card Driver, Your version of nVidia Display is unstable and I suggest you must install the latest nVidia Display Card Driver. Well, i ran the recomended windows memory test with both memory sticks in and it crashed a few times (which led me to think that is was a faulty CPU) but then i got a recomendation to try it with one stick at a time and it appeared to work perfectly computer and all for both sticks individually. Then i put the second chip back into a different slot (not running in dual channel mode) and first thing that happned was a BSOD. So we decided to RMA the MOBO and we'll see how things go from there.

ps. i am currently in Hawaii for the month and wont be doing anymore work on the computer. but soon as i am back... ill let you know how it goes.

Much like everyone else here, I too am having the same IRQ_Not_Less_or_Equal BSODs... plus a few others. :suspiciou There is not a singe day in the week that my PC does not BSOD a minimum of 2 times. Playing any game only makes the BSODs worse. Besides the BSODs my applications crash for no reason at all too. Worse of all, sometimes my PC just violently dies as though someone had reset the power button. No BSOD message, no app. error.. nothing, just dies.

After getting these for months on end I swapped the mobo and the CPU with new ones. No luck. There is no difference in the behavior. Swapped RAM, same thing.

I tried uploading my Minidumps here but got errors when trying to upload the zip file. Anyhow, I uploaded it to my server.

When Windows crashes with blue screen, it writes a system event 1001 and a minidump to the folder \windows\minidump. Check system event 1001 and it has the content of the blue screen

Event ID: 1001
Source: Save Dump
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.The bugcheck was : 0xc000000a (0xe1270188, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804032100).
Microsoft Windows..... A dump was saved in: .......

Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> System -> Event 1001. Copy the content and paste it back here

Zip 5 to 6 minidumps and attach the zip files here (note the limit of each attachment at this website is 100k). I will study the dump and find out the culprit.

Storm Force,

One of your minidump crashed with memory corruption and it is symptom of faulty ram or CPU.
